Teachers/Students! Looking for an AFFORDABLE way to use our videos (and images) for teaching/learning? Check out our COMPLETE COURSES here!

This position is filled. Thank you for your interest.

Hi there,

We are planning to publish our Youtube channel in PORTUGUESE/BRAZIL and we are looking for NATIVE SPEAKERS to translate and/or read scripts for our educational videos. See an example of such a video here:

As our videos are all science/medical related, we also need you to have a SCIENCE or MEDICAL BACKGROUND.  If you are interested, we invite you to first look through these FAQs:

1.       How does it work? What is the job exactly?

We will send you scripts of scientific/medical text in English; you will translate the scripts to your language, you will read the translation, record your reading and send the audio files back to us. This is basically a translation job plus a voice-over job. You can choose, however, to do only translation OR voice-over part (see next question).

2.       Do I have to do both translation and voice-over parts?

Not necessarily. If you only feel comfortable doing translation OR voice-over, feel free to apply to only one part. Please specify in your application. At this moment, however, we need the voice-over part more than translation.

3.      What are the requirements for translation quality? Can I use Google translation tools?

The translation must be as close to the English version as possible, as it should fit the same video exactly. All scientific terms must be accurate (this is why we need you to have science or medical background), and the writing must be grammatically correct (this is why we need you to be a native speaker). You can start with Google translate, but you will have to work on it to get it right. Google translation ALONE will NOT be accepted.

4.       What are the requirements for audio quality?

The audio file should be clean, free of background noise, swallows, and any unwanted previous takes/fragments. You will need to have an audio editing software to remove unwanted elements – you can easily find a free one. The reading must be of correct intonation and speed. Please listen to some of our videos on our Youtube channel for examples of what we are looking for.

For each script, you will need to read 2 times in one sitting, edit to remove noise and extras, and send us the 2 versions as 2 separate audio files

5.       Is there a deadline for a job to be done?

Yes, all translations must be returned within 48h from the time we send you the English script. All audio files must be returned to us within 48h from the time we send you the script in your language. We usually only send out one script (of 150 words to 800 words) at a time, which should take less than half an hour of work once you get used to it.

6.       What if I am busy, or on vacation, and cannot take a job?

We will send you an email to first ask if you are available for the job. You will have 24h to reply if you want to take it. The more often you are available, the more jobs you will have.

7.       How much and how will I be paid?

-         For translation: You will be paid $10 per 150 words of the original English text.

-         For voice-over:  You will be paid $15 per 150 words of the original English text. For example, for an average script of about 3 minutes reading (calculated based on the original English text), you would earn roughly $30 for translation and $45 for reading.  We will let you know exactly how much you would be paid for each script beforehand - the moment we send you the script.

You will be paid promptly after we receive and accept the translation and/or the audio file(s) – this would take 2-3 business days. We only use Paypal, you will need to have a Paypal account. Please note that Paypal does take a small fee out of the payment total.

8.       How often will you have jobs for me?

In the first stage we will have about 10 to 20 scripts. After that, it will be occasional,  more or less random.

9.       Who owns the copyright to the translation and the audio files I will be recording? Will I be credited?

This is “work made for hire” and hence Alila Medical Media is the only copyright holder of all translation and audio files. However, you will be credited as the translator/voice artist if the video is published on Alila Medical Media Youtube channel.

10.    How do I apply?

Please translate the sample script (posted below in italic), record yourself reading the translation, and send both the translation (simply copy and paste it in the email) and the audio file (must be in mp3 format)  to info@alilamedicalimages.com

We also need a brief description of yourself (your name, where are you located, what you are doing,…). The following information is required: your native language, your educational background.

If you only apply for the translation part, you only need to send in the translation. If you are applying only for the voice-over part, you still need to translate the script (you can just use Google translation in this case) and send in the translation together with the audio file, and specify that you only want to do voice-over.

If you are also interested in doing English voice-over, you can also send in a sample of your voice reading the English script below.

Also feel free to ask any questions that were not answered here.

We reserve the right to reply only to shortlisted applicants. Thank you for your interest.

"The human brain is divided into three major parts :

-          The cerebrum – the largest part of the human brain. The cerebrum enables sensory perception and controls voluntary motor actions.

-          The cerebellum – the cerebellum lies inferior to the cerebrum at the back of the head. It is mostly involved in coordination of movement and fine tuning of motor activities.

-          The brainstem - the brainstem is located at the base of the brain and is continuous to the spinal cord. It houses all nerve connections between different parts of the central nervous system. The brainstem provides innervation to the head and neck via cranial nerves. It also contains nuclei associated with important body functions such as regulation of blood pressure, respiration, swallowing, bladder control, sleep cycle, … among others. "
