Stages of glaucoma, a common eye disease
Aqueous humor is secreted into the posterior chamber by the ciliary body, escapes through the pupil into the anterior chamber, then drains out of the eye via the trabecular meshwork. If the drainage is blocked, the fluid is accumulated and pressure is built up, the vitreous body presses on the retina and choroid and compresses nerves and blood vessels.
